CPR, AED, and First Aid Full Classlink
This American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid course will teach adult, child and infant CPR. Other skills taught include use of the AED as well as first aid. Participants learn how to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a 2-year Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Age: 13 years and older. Location: PDRC.
Participants learn the duties and responsibilities of becoming a professional lifeguard. This class will introduce you to the guidelines established by the American Red Cross for Lifeguard Training. During the class you work on the following skills: swim 300 yards continuously, swim 20 yards, surface dive to 10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb brick, swim 20 yards with the brick, and exit water within 1 min, 40 seconds. First Aid and CPR skills will be discussed. Upon enrollment into a full Lifeguard Training class with the City and County of Broomfield the registration fee for this class will be applied. For ages 15 years and older.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Traininglink
Learn the duties and responsibilities or becoming a professional lifeguard. This class follows the guidelines established by the American Red Cross. Successful participants are certified in Lifeguard Training. To enroll in this class you must be 15 years of age by the last class date. Participants must attend all sessions. There are no exceptions. During the first class you must pass the following skills in order to continue the rest of the course: swim 300 yards continuously using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both; tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; and swim 200 yards, surface dive to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-lb brick, swim 200 yards with the brick using only the legs, and exit the water within 1 min 40 seconds.

Red Cross Re-Certification Classes
These classes are for those who possess the skills and knowledge necessary to meet all the requirements set forth by the American Red Cross and need to renew their certifications. Participants must produce a copy of their current or expired certification at the beginning of the course. If it has been more than one year since your certification has expired, you must sign up for a full course. Participants must bring their own pocket masks. If you do not have a pocket mask, we have them available for purchase for $12. There is a short review, then testing. No skills will be taught. Participants must successfully complete all skills without assistance as well as pass a written test on the first attempt.

Lifeguard Training Re-Certificationlink
This 12 hour course reviews topics in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED, and First Aid. This course is for those who are already certified and working as lifeguards and need to recertify. Candidates must present a copy of their current lifeguard certification on the first day of the class. There is a 30 day grace period allowed. Be sure to bring your pocket mask. American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding is designed to guide youth to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course by Building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. Junior Lifeguarding will introduce participants to:
- The skills needed for entry to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course
- Communication and decision–making skills
- The basic responsibilities for a lifeguard
- The basic knowledge and skills required to be a lifeguard
The class will take place at the Broomfield Community Center and the Broomfield Bay. The Junior Guards will be in the classroom M–W at BCC learning skills and then on Thursday they will be at the Broomfield Bay learning to be a lifeguard.
Prerequisites: Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the front or side. Swim breaststroke for 25 yards using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence. Tread water for 1 minute using arms and legs. Show a level of comfort on the back by floating on the back for 30 seconds or swimming on the back for 25 yards using the elementary backstroke or back crawl. Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet underwater. The Junior Lifeguarding class is not a learn to swim class. Participants need to know how to swim before the class starts.
