April Programs

iStock_000034388428_Hawks and Snow Characteristics of Survival- Saturday, April 22 from 1:00-2:00 p.m.  

Open to ages 9-14. The Denver Zoo will bring live animals to show how adaptations help animals survive in the wild. Meets in the Eisenhower Room.

Clyfford Still: The Drawing Room- Sunday, April 30 from 2:30-4:00 p.m. 

Open to ages 12+ (adults welcome). Hang out, experiment, and make art with experts from the Clyfford Still Museum! Materials provided. Meets in the Eisenhower Room.

Open to ages 9-14. Join us for fun, drop-in style workshops. Registration is NOT required. Just stop by any time during the hour of class (while supplies last; first come, first served). Meets in the Science Center.

Button Badges- Create your own button badge. April 4 & 6 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Googly-Eyed Pom-Pom- Make pom-poms. April 11 & 13 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Buggles Magnets- Make cute magnet creatures. April 18 & 20 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Paper Tower Challenge- Build a tower with recycled paper. April 25 & 27 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Sharpie Mugs- Personalize a mug with Sharpies. May 2 & 4 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Open to ages 15+.  Learn how to re-pot spider plant clippings, then take your plant home with you and watch it grow. Registration is NOT required. Just stop by anytime during the hour of class (while supplies last; first come, first served). Meets in the Science Center.


HiRes STEAM Week and STEAM Fest

Open to all ages. Maker Bolder and STEAM Fest are excited about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math. Come to the Boulder County Fairgrounds and celebrate all things creative, imaginative, and exploratory as you take part in exhibits, activities, entertainments, and more! Registration is NOT required.

May Programs
iStock_000072751857_History in Dictionary  Solar Eclipse- Sunday, May 6 from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Open to grades 4+ (adults welcome). On August 21, 2017 the first totals solar eclipse in the U.S. since 1979 will take place! Astronomer Victoria Sahami will talk about the upcoming eclipse, the best ways to view it, and the science behind eclipses. Meets in the Science Center.

loom Upcycled Fashion- Saturday, May 6 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. (at the Depot Museum)

Open to grades 6-12. Refashion an old t-shirt into something new. Add style and flare, buttons, beads, trim, and lace for an early Mother's Day celebration. Bring your mom or favorite adult. Materials provided. Meets at the Depot Museum (2201 W. 10th Ave., Broomfield, CO)

HiRes  Maker in Residence: Julie Gonzales- Multiple dates throughout May (see below)

Open to ALL AGES. Julie Gonzales makes beautiful works of art out of paper and books. Come learn about her process by making paper flowers. Create a flower for yourself to take home and one for the library to keep and put in a book vase. Then you can enjoy the flower you created anytime you visit the library! Registration is NOT required. Meets in the Science Center.
